Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and idiopatic intracranial hypertension (IIH): a critical review

چکیده
Pseudotumor cerebri is a syndrome that results from increased intracranial pressure. The main symptoms are headache, vision disturbances, and pulsatile tinnitus. Definitive diagnosis requires the presence of clinical and/or radiological signs hypertension, high opening pressure on lumbar puncture (LP), normal CSF constitution. Several studies have evaluated new contributions in evaluation understanding pathophysiology pseudotumor cerebri. Such included analysis inflammatory biomarkers, adipokines, proteomic analysis, flow studies. In this review, we present obtained so far critically discuss status potential role research involving condition. Based current knowledge, it possible to conclude with biomarkers has not yet provided information can be employed practice at moment. However, better constitution dynamics circulation patients brought some about condition potentially improve our knowledge future.

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH).
The first report of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) was by Quinche in 1893. Throughout history it has had many names. When I was a child growing up, before we had antibiotic therapy, middle ear infections occasionally would trigger intracranial inflammation and the disease was called Otitic Hydrocephalus. Then it was called Benign Intracranial Hypertension which we now know is far fr...
متن کاملOsmolality of Cerebrospinal Fluid from Patients with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH)
INTRODUCTION Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH) is a disorder of increased intracranial fluid pressure (ICP) of unknown etiology. This study aims to investigate osmolality of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from patients with IIH. METHODS We prospectively collected CSF from individuals referred on suspicion of IIH from 2011-2013. Subjects included as patients fulfilled Friedman and Jacobson...
متن کاملCerebrospinal fluid neurohypophysial peptides in benign intracranial hypertension.
The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of arginine vasopressin (AVP) and oxytocin (OT) were investigated both in patients with benign intracranial hypertension and in age and sex matched controls. Twenty eight lumbar punctures were performed on 15 patients with benign intracranial hypertension as part of their routine investigation and therapy. All patients had raised intracranial pressur...
متن کاملReassessing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) hydrodynamics: a literature review presenting a novel hypothesis for CSF physiology.
The traditional model of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) hydrodynamics is being increasingly challenged in view of recent scientific evidences. The established model presumes that CSF is primarily produced in the choroid plexuses (CP), then flows from the ventricles to the subarachnoid spaces, and is mainly reabsorbed into arachnoid villi (AV). This model is seemingly based on faulty research and mis...

objectives upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to: 1) recognize mri appearance of the spontaneous intracranial hypotension and idiopathic intracranial hypertension (pseudotumor cerebri). 2) review their various clinical and imaging presentations. conclusions in this presentation we will review imaging presentations of our several proved cases. as mentioned, there are...
